Appearance

Miniature Bernedoodles measure 18-22 inches in height and weigh 25-49 pounds when full grown. Micro Bernedoodles measure 10-17 inches in height and weigh 10-20lbs in weight. This breed brings smiles everywhere it goes with its well known tri color pattern that draws attention. They also are available in merle-tri, black and tan, phantom, white and black. Their coat varies between three different kinds - straight, wavy and curly. The wavy and curly coats are generally fluffy and shed less than the straight coat. Their tail should be long and fluffy with hair, generally carried up and over but never fully curled. The Miniature and Micro Bernedoodles have two small triangular shaped ears that are folded and held closely to their head. Their eyes are unique as it is quite common to get a puppy who grows up with one blue and one brown eye! Their eyes come in every shade of black to brown, with blue included as well.

Grooming

The Miniature and Micro Bernedoodle is a light shedder. The straight coats tend to shed the most of this breed. Daily brushing and regular trips to the groomer are required.

Special Notes

This breed lives an average of 12-18 years. Do not add one to your family unless you are able to provide life long financial and physical care. A properly installed fence is highly recommended. All dogs originate from wolves (Canis Lupus). Each breed of dog was originally created by mixing different breeds together in an effort to bring forth certain characteristics. Once a breeder has created acceptable “breed characteristics” within their bloodline and these “breed characteristics” have shown to be reliably reproduced in the offspring for three (3) generations, the bloodline may be upgraded from the category of “foundation stock” to “pure-bred”. The same “pure-bred” breed standards vary from different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.

Dog DNA testing companies can have accurate results for a specific bloodline of a small colony of dogs. However, there are tens of thousands of different bloodlines in the world which have not yet been tested for marker baseline results by Dog DNA testing companies as of 2024. For this reason Dog DNA testing companies do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of their breed lineage results and will also show different marker results for the same pure-bred breed in different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.

History

One of the more recent breeds as of 2003 that is quite the show stopper for both size and looks is the magnificent Miniature Bernedoodle!
